If you’re working remotely, whether due to the pandemic or not, you may find it harder to stay focused. There’s a lot of distractions when you’re away from the office. Although working remotely does have its advantages, you have to make sure that you’re staying productive and managing your time well. Here are a few tips.
Create a Separate Office Space
When you work from home, it can feel as if you never get a break from work. One of the best ways to create some distance (at least mentally) between work and home is to have a separate workspace. If you can turn a room in your home into an office, that’s one of the best ways. At the very least, create a place where you can go into work mode and that you can leave at the end of the day.
Set Designated Work Hours
You may have some flexibility when working remotely, but you have to stay disciplined. It’s all too easy to think, “oh, I can do that after the news, or the game, or whatever,” but then you get to the end of the day without getting anything done. Get your work done first.
Have a Plan For Your Day
Create a to-do list to make sure you’re on the track of your priorities. Tackle the most pressing issues when you’re at your best, usually when you start working. Track your time to ensure maximum productivity.
Take Breaks
Sitting in the same place all day can be wearisome. Get up and move around at planned intervals. Take a walk around the block with your dog or do some jumping jacks. Take a short break to chat with a colleague. Eat lunch away from your computer. You’ll be more productive when you give your brain some downtime.
